Rehabilitation and Proprioceptive Training Plans
We can help you develop routines, exercises and strategies to improve your horse’s strength, agility, and performance tailored to their fitness level, age, experience, and injury status.
Athletic horses need to develop body awareness, strength, and stamina to safely and comfortably do their job. That is true for the backyard trail horse and the 5 star eventer. Sometimes in our attempts to protect them we control too much of their movement and apply too much padding and support, leading to poor body awareness and weak bodies that predispose them to injury. Horses are also incredibly willing and very athletic, and we are prone to asking too much and training too hard for their fitness level. Training proper use of their muscles and joints starts when they are young, but it is never too late to restart the process. Dr. Jill is certified in equine rehabilitation and can work with you at your facility to develop fitness and proprioceptive training plans to maximize your young horse’s potential or bring your older horses back from injury, or anything in between.
